Polarørkener is a Norwegian term that translates to "polar deserts." These are extremely cold, dry, and treeless regions found in the Arctic and Antarctic. They are characterized by permafrost, low precipitation, and harsh, windy conditions. Despite their name, polar deserts are not devoid of life. Hardy vegetation, such as mosses, lichens, and dwarf shrubs, can survive in these environments.
