Polümeerbetoonis is a composite material that utilizes polymers as a binder instead of traditional Portland cement. This innovative approach combines the advantageous properties of polymers with the structural integrity and ease of use associated with concrete. The polymers used can vary widely, including epoxy resins, polyesters, vinyl esters, and acrylics, each offering distinct characteristics in terms of strength, chemical resistance, and setting times.

The manufacturing process typically involves mixing polymer resins with aggregates such as sand, gravel, and sometimes specialized fillers. The low viscosity of the liquid resin allows for excellent penetration and coating of the aggregate particles, leading to a dense and impermeable final product once cured. Unlike conventional concrete, which undergoes a hydration reaction, polümeerbetoonis cures through polymerization, a chemical process that forms strong molecular bonds.

Polümeerbetoonis exhibits several superior properties compared to cement-based concrete. It offers significantly higher compressive and tensile strength, improved resistance to chemicals, acids, and alkalis, and greater durability in harsh environments, including freeze-thaw cycles and abrasion.
