Podwykonawcza refers to a subcontracting relationship in Polish law and business. It describes a situation where a party that has entered into a contract with a client (the main contractor or investor) then delegates a portion or all of that contract's work to another party (the subcontractor). This is a common practice across various industries, particularly in construction, IT, and services. The main contractor remains ultimately responsible to the client for the successful completion of the project, even if parts are carried out by subcontractors. The subcontractor, in turn, has a contractual obligation to the main contractor, not directly to the original client. This arrangement allows main contractors to leverage specialized skills, manage workload, or reduce their direct involvement in certain tasks.
