Podlewaniami

Podlewaniami, also known as Polish-style flower-drying, is a traditional method of drying flowers and herbs used in Polish and Eastern European folk crafts. It involves steeping the plant material in varnished linseed oil or beeswax to preserve and protect the flowers, allowing them to remain pliable and unchanged in color.

The process of podełwa-niani typically begins by soaking the flowers or herbs in a mixture of linseed oil and water, allowing them to soften and swell. The soaked material is then wrapped in a cloth or placed in a container, where it is left to steep for several days or weeks, allowing the oil to penetrate and dry the plant material.

Once the plant material is fully saturated and dried, it is removed from the oil and allowed to air dry. The resulting preserved flowers retain their natural colors and textures, and are often used to create ornate arrangements, dioramas, and other decorative items.

Podlewaniami was a popular technique among Polish folk artisans during the 18th and 19th centuries, particularly in the rural areas of Eastern Europe. The craft was used to create beautiful and intricate designs for church processions, weddings, and other special occasions. Today, the technique is still used by artisans and crafters, either as a traditional method or as a form of artistic experimentation.
