Pleuraler

Pleuraler is a term that can refer to several concepts, primarily related to the pleura, a double-layered serous membrane that surrounds the lungs. The outer layer, the parietal pleura, lines the chest wall, while the inner layer, the visceral pleura, covers the surface of the lungs. Between these two layers is the pleural space, which contains a small amount of pleural fluid. Pleurisy often causes sharp chest pain that worsens with breathing, coughing, or sneezing. Pneumothorax, or a collapsed lung, occurs when air enters the pleural space, separating the lung from the chest wall and preventing full lung expansion. The term "pleuraler" might also be used colloquially or in specific medical contexts to describe something pertaining to or involving the pleura.
