Pipvärde is a term used in financial markets, particularly in foreign exchange (forex) trading, to denote the smallest unit of price change for a currency pair. It stands for "percentage in point." A pip represents a minuscule movement in the exchange rate, and its value depends on the currency pair being traded and the size of the trading position. For most major currency pairs, one pip is equivalent to the fourth decimal place of the exchange rate. For example, if the EUR/USD exchange rate moves from 1.1234 to 1.1235, that's a one-pip increase.

The value of a pip is crucial for traders to calculate potential profits and losses. It is typically expressed in the quote currency of the pair. For instance, in EUR/USD, the quote currency is USD. If a trader buys one standard lot of EUR/USD (100,000 units) at 1.1234 and sells it at 1.1235, they have gained one pip. The value of that pip in USD would be approximately $0.10 for a standard lot. Smaller position sizes, like mini lots (10,000 units) or micro lots (1,000 units), will have proportionally smaller pip values.
