Pierrepont

Pierrepont is a township located in St. Lawrence County, New York, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 1,550. The township is situated in the northern part of the county, near the Canadian border. It is part of the Watertown–Fort Drum micropolitan area.

The area that is now Pierrepont was first settled in the early 19th century. The township was officially formed in 1807 from parts of the town of Lisbon. Its name is believed to be derived from Pierrepoint, a French nobleman, though the exact origin remains a subject of historical discussion. Early industries in the township included agriculture and lumber.

Geographically, Pierrepont is characterized by rolling hills and woodlands, with several small streams and the Raquette River flowing through its territory. The township's economy has historically relied on farming and natural resources.
