It is not part of formal scientific nomenclature and is primarily encountered in teaching materials, science communication, or discussions that emphasize uncertainty.

Usage: It is rarely used in peer-reviewed publications and is most common as a pedagogical device or in early-stage research framing. The term helps researchers and students discuss unknowns without prematurely committing to an explanation, while still documenting observable details and patterns.

Characteristics: Phenomenathat typically refers to irregularities or anomalies detected in data, experiments, or observations. It is inherently open-ended and often multidisciplinary, accommodating data-driven discovery or the generation of hypotheses that may later be tested. The focus is on the observed signature and its persistence across contexts rather than on a defined mechanism.
