The PhaseGate Model is a conceptual framework used in project management and product development to guide the progression of a project through distinct stages. It is often referred to as a stage-gate process or a stage-and-gate process. The core idea is to divide a project into a series of discrete phases, with each phase having specific deliverables and objectives.

At the end of each phase, a "gate" is established. This gate acts as a decision point where a review team, often comprising stakeholders and senior management, evaluates the project's progress against predefined criteria. If the project meets these criteria, it is granted "go" approval to proceed to the next phase. If it fails to meet the criteria, the project may be stopped, recycled, or sent back for further work.

The phases typically involve activities such as idea generation, concept development, design, testing, and launch. The gates serve to manage risk, ensure alignment with strategic objectives, and allocate resources effectively.
