However, petrol engines do have some drawbacks. They are more susceptible to engine knocking, which can occur when the fuel-air mixture ignites prematurely, leading to a loss of power and potential engine damage. Additionally, petrol engines require a more complex fuel delivery system, including a carburetor or fuel injector, to ensure the proper mixture of fuel and air.

In recent years, there has been a growing interest in developing more efficient and environmentally friendly petrol engines. This includes the use of turbocharging, direct fuel injection, and the development of new engine designs, such as the Miller cycle engine, which aims to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.
