Peräseinäjoki

Peräseinäjoki is a former municipality in Finland, located in the South Ostrobothnia region. It was consolidated with the town of Seinäjoki in 2016. Before the merger, Peräseinäjoki had a population of approximately 7,500 people and an area of 776.23 square kilometers. The main administrative and service center of the former municipality is now part of Seinäjoki's urban structure.

The area was historically known for its agriculture and its connection to the broader Ostrobothnian way of life. The name "Peräseinäjoki" itself refers to its location at the "rear" or "end" of the Seinäjoki river. Like much of South Ostrobothnia, the region has a strong cultural heritage tied to its rural roots and a spirit of entrepreneurship.

The former municipality's economy was diversified, with significant contributions from small and medium-sized enterprises alongside the agricultural sector. Infrastructure within Peräseinäjoki included schools, a library, and recreational facilities, which are now integrated into the services offered by the enlarged Seinäjoki. The landscape is characterized by typical Ostrobothnian plains and forests, with the Seinäjoki river flowing through it, providing natural beauty and recreational opportunities.
