Perunas

Perunas is a fictional planet located in the outer rim of the Andromeda galaxy. It is a terrestrial world with a nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere, though the oxygen levels are slightly lower than Earth's. The planet's surface is characterized by vast, arid plains dotted with hardy, low-lying vegetation that has adapted to the dry conditions. Large, rocky mountain ranges are prevalent in the northern hemisphere, while the southern hemisphere features a significant saltwater ocean, though much of it is shallow and prone to evaporation.

The dominant life forms on Perunas are the K'tharr, a silicon-based species. The K'tharr are bipedal, with a tough, crystalline exoskeleton that provides protection against the planet's harsh environment. They possess a hive-like social structure, with individuals fulfilling specialized roles within their communities. Communication is primarily through a series of clicks and resonating hums. Their technology is focused on survival and resource management, with an emphasis on geothermal energy and mineral extraction.

Perunas experiences extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night due to its thin atmosphere and proximity to a binary star system. Days are intensely hot, while nights can drop to sub-zero temperatures. The planet has a relatively weak magnetic field, leading to increased exposure to stellar radiation. Despite these challenges, the K'tharr have developed a resilient civilization, maintaining a stable population and a sustainable way of life. Interstellar contact with Perunas has been minimal, with most known data being observational.
