Perspectiveans

Perspectiveans is a term that can refer to followers of the philosophy of Objectivism, as founded by Ayn Rand. Objectivism is a philosophical system that emphasizes reason, individualism, and capitalism. Its adherents, sometimes called "Randians," hold that reality is objective, meaning it exists independently of consciousness, and that the proper moral purpose of one's life is the pursuit of one's own happiness. They advocate for a government that protects individual rights, particularly property rights, and a laissez-faire capitalist economic system.

The philosophy also posits that the only valid form of knowledge is through reason and empirical observation, rejecting faith and mysticism. In ethics, Objectivism promotes rational egoism, arguing that each individual should act in their own rational self-interest. Art, according to Objectivism, should be a select re-creation of reality according to an artist's metaphysical value-judgments, aiming to present a heroic vision of man. The term "perspectiveans" itself is not widely used within the Objectivist movement, with "Objectivist" being the more common identifier. However, the term might be employed colloquially or by those outside the philosophy to describe individuals who strongly adhere to its tenets and view the world through its particular philosophical lens.
