Persikka

Persikka is the Finnish name for the peach, Prunus persica, a deciduous stone fruit in the Rosaceae family. The fruit is typically round with a fuzzy skin and juicy flesh that can be yellow, orange, or white. Varieties are often classified as freestone or clingstone based on how easily the stone separates from the flesh.

Origin and distribution have the peach native to Northwest China, where it was cultivated for thousands of years. From there it spread along trade routes to Persia, the Mediterranean, and Europe, eventually becoming widely grown in temperate regions around the world.
