Perseuss is a Greek mythological hero, son of Zeus and Danaë. He is renowned for his numerous heroic deeds, most famously for slaying the Gorgon Medusa. Medusa was a monstrous creature with living venomous snakes in place of hair, and anyone who looked directly at her would turn to stone. Perseus was aided by Athena and Hermes, who provided him with a shield that reflected Medusa's gaze, sandals of winged flight, and a special bag to carry her severed head.
