Perpromotion differs from common payoff structures such as cost per acquisition, cost per click, or cost per thousand impressions because the unit of account is the promotion event itself rather than the action or the audience exposure.

Advantages include straightforward budgeting for individual promotions and easier pacing of campaigns. Potential drawbacks are misalignment with outcomes if attribution is unclear, variable total spend, and greater emphasis on the number of promotions rather than their effectiveness.
