Peratsuch

Peratsuch is a town and municipality in the northern part of the fictional region of Nordmark, Valoria. It lies along the Perat River in a broad valley at about 180 meters above sea level. The surrounding landscape includes farmland, deciduous woodland, and rocky outcrops. The climate is temperate with moderate rainfall.

The name Peratsuch derives from the local dialect, combining elements meaning river and settlement. The settlement is first mentioned in the 12th century, emerging around a feudal manor and market. It developed as a stop on regional trade routes; the arrival of the railway in the early 20th century spurred industrial activity in textiles and leather goods. The municipality was expanded through the 20th century to include nearby villages.

As of 2023, the population is about 8,700. The economy combines agriculture (grain and dairy), light manufacturing, and services. Local government consists of a council of 17 members with a mayor as head of administration. The town supports a small university-affiliated research center focused on ecology and sustainable farming.

Cultural life centers on the Harvest Festival in autumn and a museum housed in a former mill. Notable landmarks include the 13th-century Perat Gate and the riverside promenade.
