Perëndimore

Perëndimore is an Albanian term that denotes the concept of “the West.” It is used to refer to the western part of a geographic area as well as to the Western world in cultural, political, and economic contexts. In everyday language, it can describe a western region of a country, for example “zona perëndimore e vendit” (the western zone of the country), or be used in broader discourse to indicate Western Europe and North America as a cultural or political sphere.

Etymology and usage notes: The word derives from perëndim, meaning west or sunset, with the suffix -ore forming an adjective or noun related to the direction. As an adjective, perëndimore agrees with the noun it modifies to convey western, occidental, or western-oriented attributes. It is commonly paired with regional nouns to specify location, such as “krah perëndimor” (western side) or “aspektet perëndimore të politikës” (the Western aspects of policy).
