Pentane
Pentane is an alkane consisting of five carbon atoms, with the chemical formula C5H12. It exists as three structural isomers: n-pentane (normal pentane), isopentane (2-methylbutane), and neopentane (2,2-dimethylpropane). The isomers differ in branching and, accordingly, in physical properties such as boiling points; n-pentane is the least branched and has the highest boiling point, while neopentane is more highly branched and is a gas at room temperature.
Pentane is a colorless, highly volatile, and flammable hydrocarbon. It is nonpolar and only sparingly soluble
Common applications include use as a nonpolar solvent in laboratories and industry, in the formulation of adhesives
Safety and handling: pentane vapors are highly flammable and can form explosive mixtures with air. It should
