Pelvük

Pelvük is not a standard term in English anatomy. In some language contexts, pelvük may appear as a possessive form meaning “their pelvis.” The term itself does not denote a distinct anatomical structure beyond the pelvis and is not used in mainstream medical literature. The pelvis, or pelvic girdle, is a ring-like bony structure at the base of the spine that supports the upper body and transfers weight to the legs.

The pelvis consists of two hip bones (each formed by the ilium, ischium, and pubis), the sacrum, and the coccyx. The hip bones fuse in adulthood and join the sacrum at the sacroiliac joints, while the anterior connection occurs at the pubic symphysis. A common anatomical division separates the greater (false) pelvis from the lesser (true) pelvis; the pelvic inlet and pelvic outlet mark their boundaries. The true pelvis contains reproductive and urinary organs in females and parts of the digestive tract in both sexes. Sex differences are notable: the female pelvis is typically wider with a larger pelvic inlet and a broader outlet, adaptations associated with childbirth.

Functionally, the pelvis supports the trunk, bears body weight, and transfers load to the lower limbs. It protects pelvic organs and provides attachment points for muscles of the abdomen, hip, and pelvic floor. The pelvic floor, comprising muscles and ligaments, spans the pelvic outlet and supports pelvic organs.

Clinical relevance: pelvic structure and function relate to injuries, childbirth, and pelvic floor disorders. Conditions such as pelvic fractures, prolapse, or urinary incontinence reflect the integrated role of the bony pelvis, soft tissues, and their coordinated function.
