Peavoolu

Peavoolu is a fictional plant species described in the fantasy setting of Eldoria, specifically in the archipelago of Neral. It is a perennial climbing vine described in some sources as belonging to the family Solanaceae, though in-world classifications vary. The plant produces slender stems, opposite ovate leaves, and bell-shaped flowers that range from pale violet to lavender. It bears elongated pods, each containing multiple seeds; the seeds are hard and brown and are edible after preparation.

Habitat and ecology: Peavoolu grows in humid lowland forests and along riverbanks at elevations from about 50 to 900 meters. It favors loamy, well-drained soil with partial shade. The plant is pollinated primarily by night-flying moths, and seed dispersal occurs via small fruit bats and frugivorous birds.

Cultivation: Peavoolu is cultivated by cordon trellising, with propagation typically performed via stem cuttings or seed. In home gardens, it requires consistent moisture and protection from direct harsh sun. Harvest typically occurs after about 120 to 180 days, when pods change from green to amber.

Uses and cultural significance: The seeds can be dried and ground into flour, used in breads and porridge. The pods, when roasted, are said to impart a nutty flavor, and the leaves are sometimes brewed as an aromatic infusion.
