Pcadherins
Pcadherins are a subfamily of cadherins, which are a class of cell adhesion molecules. Cadherins are calcium-dependent transmembrane proteins that mediate cell-cell adhesion in a variety of tissues. Pcadherins, specifically, are characterized by the presence of a unique proline-rich N-terminal domain upstream of their cadherin repeat domain. This structural feature distinguishes them from other cadherin subfamilies.
