Pathrusim

Pathrusim is a biblical placename and a group of people mentioned in the Hebrew Bible. According to the Table of Nations in Genesis 10, the Pathrusim were descendants of Mizraim, who was himself a son of Ham and a grandson of Noah. Mizraim is traditionally identified with Egypt.

The text in Genesis 10:14 states that the Pathrusim were among the peoples who originated from the sons of Mizraim. Their homeland, Pathros, is generally understood to be a region within Egypt. While the exact geographical location of Pathros is debated among scholars, it is commonly identified with Upper Egypt, the southern part of the country.

The Pathrusim are mentioned in conjunction with other Egyptian-related groups, such as the Ludim, Anamim, Naphtuhim, and Casluhim, all listed as sons of Mizraim. Their presence in the biblical narrative serves to establish genealogies and the geographical distribution of peoples in the ancient Near East from a biblical perspective. References to Pathros in other biblical books, such as Isaiah 11:11 and Jeremiah 44:1, suggest it was a recognized region within Egypt.
