Parlamentaarse
Parlamentaarse is a Finnish adjective meaning "parliamentary." It is used to describe anything related to a parliament, such as a parliamentary system of government, parliamentary procedures, or parliamentary elections. In a parliamentary system, the executive branch derives its democratic legitimacy from and is held accountable to the legislature (parliament); the executive and legislative branches are thus interconnected. This contrasts with a presidential system, where the executive is elected separately from the legislature. The adjective can also refer to the conduct or behavior expected of members of parliament, implying decorum, respect for debate, and adherence to established rules. For example, a debate might be described as "parlamentaarisesti asiallinen" which translates to "parliamentarily proper" or "parliamentarily decent." The term is fundamental to understanding Finnish political structures and discourse.
