Call by name is a method where the expression is passed unevaluated and is evaluated each time it is used within the function. This method can be more efficient for certain types of parameters but can also lead to unexpected behavior if not used carefully.

Call by value-result is a combination of call by value and call by result. The actual parameter's value is passed to the function, and any modifications made to the parameter inside the function are passed back to the caller.
