Pannónia
Pannónia (Latin: Pannonia) was a Roman province located in the Danube basin, spanning parts of what are now Hungary, Austria, Croatia, Slovenia, and Serbia, with extensions into Slovakia. The name derives from the Pannonii, an ancient population in the region. The area became part of the Roman Empire in the early Imperial period and developed as a frontier zone with a strong military presence.
