Pamauttanut

Pamauttanut, also known as pamauttanut palm or pamauttanut tree, is a species of palm tree native to the Philippines. It is a medium-sized palm, typically growing to a height of 15-20 meters, with a single, unbranched trunk. The leaves are pinnate, with 20-30 leaflets arranged in a single row along the rachis. The leaflets are elliptical to oblong, measuring about 15-25 cm in length and 5-8 cm in width. The inflorescence is a panicle, bearing numerous small, white flowers. The fruit is a drupe, about 1.5 cm in diameter, with a hard, woody shell enclosing a single seed.

Pamauttanut is valued for its timber, which is used for construction and furniture making. The leaves are also used in traditional medicine to treat various ailments, including fever, diarrhea, and skin diseases. The fruit is edible and is sometimes used in local cuisine.

Pamauttanut is listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List due to habitat loss and overharvesting. Conservation efforts are underway to protect this important species and its habitat.
