The Palermo Protocol, also known as the Palermo Convention, is an international treaty aimed at combating organized crime, particularly transnational organized crime. It was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on November 25, 2000, and entered into force on July 23, 2004. The protocol is named after the Italian city of Palermo, where it was negotiated.
