Palampet

Palampet is a village located in the Bhupalpally district of Telangana, India. It is renowned for the Ramappa Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is a prime example of Kakatiya architecture. Construction of the temple is believed to have been completed around 1213 AD by the Kakatiya ruler Ganapathi Deva, with the principal architect being Ramappa, after whom the temple is named.

The Ramappa Temple is celebrated for its intricate carvings, unique dance sculptures, and the use of lightweight, porous brickwork that makes the structure more resistant to earthquakes. The temple complex also features a large lake, known as the Palampet tank, which was constructed by the Kakatiya rulers to irrigate the surrounding land.
