Paksemaks

Paksemaks is an Estonian grammatical form used to express a change toward greater thickness or fatness. It is derived from the adjective paks (thick, fat) with the suffix -maks and is typically used with verbs that indicate a change of state, especially muutuma (to become). The form functions as a predicative complement in clauses describing a process rather than a static attribute. In sentences such as "Ta muutus paksemaks," the subject experiences an increase in thickness or fatness; in "Kui ta sööb rohkem, muutub ta paksemaks," the change is attributed to a cause (in this case, eating more).

Usage and register are mainly within everyday Estonian, particularly in contexts related to body size, food intake, or materials that can thicken. The construction is common in informal to semi-formal speech and can appear in health, fitness, or consumer contexts.
