Pakkotyötä
Pakkotyötä, often translated as forced labor, refers to any work or service exacted from any person under the menace of any penalty and for which the said person has not offered themselves voluntarily. This definition, established by the International Labour Organization (ILO), encompasses a broad spectrum of activities. While it can include traditional forms of slavery, it also extends to situations where individuals are coerced through debt bondage, human trafficking, or other exploitative means. The penalty threatened can be physical, but it also includes psychological coercion, such as threats against the worker's family or reputation.
Historically, forced labor has manifested in various forms, from penal labor systems to colonial economic exploitation.
