Pakkotoimenpide

Pakkotoimenpide is a Finnish legal term referring to a coercive measure ordered by authorities to restrict a person’s freedom or autonomy in order to protect the person or others or to secure welfare, safety, or health. It is used when a person cannot or will not consent to necessary actions and there is a need to prevent harm or to promote welfare. The concept covers actions across several sectors, most notably child welfare and social services, health care (including mental health), and, to a lesser extent, criminal justice.
