Paahdettu

Paahdettu is a Finnish adjective formed from the verb paahda, meaning to roast. It denotes that something has undergone the roasting process and is used to describe edible products that have been roasted. The most common context is roasted coffee beans, i.e., paahdettu kahvi, but the term also applies to other roasted foods such as paahdettu pähkinä (roasted nuts) or paahdettu vilja (roasted grain). In practice, paahdettu is usually found in compound phrases or labels and may appear in various inflected forms to match the noun it modifies.

In the coffee industry and in everyday speech, the term is often paired with roast level descriptions, for example kevyt paahto (light roast) and tummapaahto (dark roast). The word can also describe processed seeds and grains beyond coffee, including seeds or nuts prepared by roasting.
