PPPM
PPPM, or Point-to-Point Protocol Multilink, is a network protocol used to encapsulate Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) frames across multiple physical links. It was developed to improve the efficiency and reliability of data transmission over multiple links, such as those provided by Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) or other multi-link environments. PPPM allows for the aggregation of multiple physical links into a single logical link, which can be used to carry PPP frames. This aggregation can increase the available bandwidth and provide redundancy, as data can be transmitted over multiple links simultaneously or switched to a backup link in case of failure. PPPM is defined in RFC 1990 and is commonly used in telecommunications and networking applications where reliable and efficient data transmission is crucial. It supports features such as link aggregation, load balancing, and fault tolerance, making it a valuable tool for enhancing network performance and reliability.
