PMRDA, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority, is a statutory planning and development authority established by the Government of Maharashtra under the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority Act, 2016. Its mandate is to plan, coordinate, and regulate development across the Pune Metropolitan Region, which includes the city of Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and surrounding urban areas in Pune district and adjacent talukas. The objective is to promote sustainable, balanced growth and to ensure integrated provision of housing, transport, utilities, and other infrastructure. It superseded the Pune Metropolitan Region Planning Board and consolidated planning powers for the region.
