PGL2
PGL-2 is a germline-associated protein in Caenorhabditis elegans. It is one of the components of P granules, cytoplasmic ribonucleoprotein assemblies that reside in the germline lineage. The protein is encoded by the pgl-2 gene and is related to other PGL family members, such as PGL-1 and PGL-3. During development, PGL-2 localizes to P granules in oocytes and early embryos and remains enriched in germ cells through larval and adult stages.
PGL-2 is involved in the organization and function of P granules, which are thought to participate in
Expression of pgl-2 is largely restricted to the germline, with its activity and localization modulated during
Genetic and cellular studies using loss-of-function and localization analyses have explored PGL-2’s role. Disruption of pgl-2
