PALOP

PALOP is an acronym that refers to the Portuguese-speaking African countries. It stands for Países Africanos de Língua Oficial Portuguesa. This group comprises Angola, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, Cape Verde, and São Tomé and Príncipe. These nations share a common colonial history, having been former Portuguese colonies.

The PALOP countries are members of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), an international organization founded in 1996. The CPLP aims to promote and defend the Portuguese language and foster cooperation among its member states. The PALOP nations are significant in terms of their cultural and linguistic heritage, with Portuguese serving as their official language.
