PõhjaKoreaga is a term that refers to North Korea, officially known as the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). It is a country located in East Asia, occupying the northern half of the Korean Peninsula. Its capital and largest city is Pyongyang. North Korea shares its borders with China to the north, Russia to the northeast, and South Korea to the south, separated by the heavily fortified Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ).

The DPRK was established in 1948 following the division of Korea after World War II. Its political system is a totalitarian dictatorship characterized by a cult of personality surrounding its ruling Kim dynasty. The economy is largely state-controlled and has faced significant challenges, leading to periods of famine and international isolation.
