Ozdobnik

Ozdobnik is a genus of moths belonging to the family Gracillariidae. These small moths are known for their leaf-mining larvae. The genus is found in the Old World tropics, with a significant diversity in Southeast Asia. Adult ozdobnik moths are typically delicate and have a wingspan of around 5-10 millimeters. Their forewings are often patterned with distinctive markings, which can vary between species.

The larval stage of ozdobnik moths is characterized by its parasitic lifestyle within the leaves of host plants. The larvae are flattened and legless, adapted for tunneling between the upper and lower epidermis of a leaf, creating a mine. These mines can be serpentine or blotch-like, depending on the species and host plant. The feeding activity of the larvae can cause visible damage to the leaves, sometimes leading to premature leaf drop.

While the exact host plant range varies for each species, many ozdobnik moths are associated with families such as Euphorbiaceae, Fagaceae, and Leguminosae.
