Oynamad

Oynamad is a small village located in the central Anatolian province of Yozgat in Turkey. The settlement lies at an elevation of approximately 1,150 meters above sea level and is situated near the foothills of the Ilgaz Mountains. The village is accessible via a local road connecting it to the provincial capital, Yozgat, which is about 30 kilometres to the north.

Historical records trace Oynamad back to the early Ottoman period, with the earliest documented mention appearing in a land registry from the 16th century. Over the centuries it has maintained a predominantly agrarian character, shaped by the fertile lands of the Sakarya River basin. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the village was part of the larger PTT (Post, Telegraph, and Telephone) administrative structure that connected rural communities to the wider Ottoman Empire. The demographic composition has remained relatively stable, with most inhabitants identified as ethnic Turks. Census data from 1960 indicated that the village had a population of roughly 800 residents; by 2010 this figure had fluctuated slightly due to rural migration trends inland and to urban centres.

Agriculture forms the core of Oynamad's local economy, with crops such as wheat, barley, and corn grown on plots that are generally used for seasonal rotation. In addition to cereal cultivation, the villagers produce livestock including sheep and goats. There are also a number of small, family-operated dairies that supply cheese and yogurt to nearby markets. Occasional olive groves and fruit orchards, mainly of apples and cherries, add to the agricultural diversity. The most recent statistical update recorded an 8‑year‑average annual growth rate of 0.1% in the village's population, indicating a relatively stable demographic profile.
