Oxigénkapacitásának refers to the oxygen-carrying capacity of a substance or system. In biological contexts, this most commonly relates to the oxygen-carrying capacity of blood. Blood's oxygen-carrying capacity is primarily determined by the amount of hemoglobin present in red blood cells and the affinity of hemoglobin for oxygen. Hemoglobin is a protein that binds to oxygen in the lungs and releases it to the tissues where it is needed for cellular respiration.

Several factors influence the oxygen-carrying capacity of blood. The number of red blood cells and the concentration of hemoglobin within them are crucial. For instance, certain industrial processes might involve materials designed to hold or release oxygen under specific conditions. However, the term is overwhelmingly used in physiology and medicine to discuss the blood's ability to transport oxygen from the lungs to the body's tissues. This capacity is vital for maintaining life, as oxygen is essential for energy production in cells.
