Overtolkning, a term of Swedish origin, translates to "overinterpretation" in English. It describes the act of attributing excessive meaning or significance to something that may not inherently possess it. In communication, overtolkning can manifest as reading too much into a person's words or actions, assuming hidden motives or underlying messages that are not present.
