Overdiluted refers to a state in which a solution, mixture, or assay component has been diluted beyond the intended concentration, resulting in a solute level that is insufficient to achieve the desired effect or measurable signal. The term is commonly used in laboratory, medical, and everyday contexts to describe a preparation that is too dilute to be effective or detectable.

In laboratory practice, overdilution can occur when a stock solution is diluted more than planned or when volume measurements are incorrect. This can lead to inaccurate concentrations, failed calibrations, and unreliable results.
