Osztódásokkal, also known as stock splits, is a corporate action where a company divides its existing shares into multiple shares. This increases the number of outstanding shares but proportionally decreases the price per share. For example, in a 2-for-1 stock split, each shareholder receives two shares for every one they previously held, and the price of each share is halved.

The primary reason companies undertake stock splits is to make their shares more affordable and accessible to a wider range of investors. When a stock price becomes very high, it can deter smaller investors from purchasing even a single share. By lowering the per-share price, a split can increase liquidity and trading volume, potentially attracting more investor interest.

Another perceived benefit is psychological. A lower stock price might appear more attractive and approachable, even though the overall market capitalization of the company remains unchanged immediately after the split. Investors often view stock splits as a positive signal from management, suggesting confidence in the company's future growth prospects.

It is important to note that a stock split does not change the fundamental value of the company or a shareholder's proportional ownership. The total value of an investor's holdings remains the same immediately before and after the split. Companies might also implement reverse stock splits, where multiple existing shares are consolidated into a single share, typically to increase the per-share price and avoid delisting from an exchange.
