Ostravice

Ostravice is a river located in the Czech Republic, specifically in the regions of Moravia-Silesia and Silesia. It is a tributary of the Oder River, which is part of the Oder River basin. The Ostravice River emerges near the town of Ostrava and flows for approximately 92 kilometers before emptying into the Oder River near the town of Frýdek-Místek.

The Ostravice River is primarily fed by rainfall and snowmelt from the Jeseniky mountains, which are located in the Czech Republic. The river's basin spans over 660 square kilometers, encompassing several towns and municipalities. During the Industrial Revolution, the Ostravice River played a significant role in the development of the region, particularly in the coal mining industry.

The Ostravice River has a moderate flow rate, with an average annual flow of approximately 11.5 cubic meters per second. The river is classified as a C-class river, which indicates that it has limited recreational value but is still capable of supporting small-scale aquatic life.
