Osaaikaeläke

Osa-aikainen eläke, known in English as part-time pension or partial retirement pension, is a form of pension benefit available in some countries, notably Finland. It allows individuals to transition gradually into full retirement by reducing their working hours and receiving a portion of their pension alongside their part-time earnings. This system is designed to offer flexibility for older workers who may not be ready or able to cease working entirely but wish to decrease their work commitments.

Eligibility for osa-aikainen eläke typically depends on age, employment status, and the extent to which working hours have been reduced. The pension amount is usually calculated as a proportion of the full retirement pension, based on the reduction in working hours. For instance, if an individual reduces their working hours by 50%, they might receive 50% of their potential full pension. This supplementary income allows them to maintain a certain standard of living while easing into retirement.

The primary purpose of osa-aikainen eläke is to promote longer working lives by providing a more gradual and less abrupt transition out of the workforce.
