Ortodoksisten

Ortodoksisten is the genitive plural form of the Finnish adjective ortodoksinen, meaning “Orthodox.” It is used to describe something related to the Orthodox Christian tradition or to refer to groups of Orthodox people in constructions where the noun is in genitive form, for example ortodoksisten kirkkojen liturgia (the liturgy of the Orthodox churches). The base adjective derives from the Greek orthódoxos, meaning “right belief” or “correct opinion.”

Orthodoxy refers to the family of Christian churches that trace their heritage to the early Christian communities of the Eastern Roman Empire and to later schisms. The term commonly distinguishes Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox churches from the Roman Catholic and Protestant traditions. Core features include conciliarity (governance by bishops through councils), apostolic succession, sacraments, and a liturgical life centered on the Eucharist. The genitive plural form ortodoksisten is used with nouns in genitive plural, such as ortodoksisten kirkkojen yhteisö or ortodoksisten kirkkokuntien perinteet, to indicate “of the Orthodox …” among multiple churches or groups.
