Orthis
Orthis is a genus of flowering plants in the family Apocynaceae, commonly known as the dogbane family. The genus is native to the Mediterranean region, with a few species extending into Asia and Africa. Orthis species are herbaceous perennials, typically growing to a height of 30-60 cm. They are characterized by their simple, alternate leaves and showy, tubular flowers that are often purple, blue, or white in color. The flowers are typically arranged in clusters at the end of the stems, and they are pollinated by bees and other insects. Orthis species are often used in gardens for their attractive flowers and are also of interest to botanists for their unique morphology and ecology. The genus includes around 15 recognized species, with Orthis uniflora being the most well-known.
