Orthid
Orthid is a genus of extinct trilobites belonging to the order Phacopida, specifically within the superfamily Encrinuroidea. These fossils are found in marine sedimentary rocks dating primarily from the Silurian period. Orthid trilobites are characterized by their distinct pygidial fringe, which is often composed of a series of spines or tubercles. Their glabella, the central lobe of the head shield, is typically elongate and segmented. The eyes are usually large and prominent, indicating they were likely active predators or scavengers.
Fossil specimens of Orthid have been recovered from various locations worldwide, offering insights into the paleoecology
