Organojärjestelmät

Organojärjestelmät, often translated as organ systems, are groups of organs that work together to perform a major function in the body. These systems are the building blocks of complex multicellular organisms, allowing for specialized tasks that individual organs cannot accomplish alone. Each organ within a system contributes to the overall goal, and their coordinated activity is essential for survival and proper functioning.

For example, the digestive system comprises organs like the stomach, intestines, and liver, all dedicated to breaking down food and absorbing nutrients. The circulatory system, including the heart and blood vessels, is responsible for transporting oxygen, nutrients, and waste products throughout the body. Similarly, the respiratory system, with lungs and airways, facilitates gas exchange. Other key organ systems include the nervous system for communication and control, the muscular system for movement, the skeletal system for support and protection, the excretory system for waste removal, the reproductive system for procreation, and the endocrine system for hormonal regulation.
